CPCS District Court Plus (DCP)

Description
This certification program is designed to prepare district court practitioners to handle nonconcurrent or “Superior Court only” felony cases while such cases are in the probable-cause-hearing phase in the district court. The core learning objective is for practitioners to understand that this phase in the lifecycle of a nonconcurrent felony case is not merely a holding pattern, but a critical stage which demands vigorous, client-centered advocacy. Upon completion of the focused review of the recorded lectures, practitioners will be paid the Superior Court rate on these cases.

At the conclusion of each week, participants will meet in a discussion session with faculty members to review and discuss the material. Participants will be expected to have independently reviewed the videos in advance of the meeting and have 1-2 questions per topic for the discussion session. Faculty with discuss with participants the most important points from the week’s videos and participants will have an opportunity to ask questions.
